From: Steve Rainwater <[email protected]> Subject: [DMS] Replacing Ed Date: August 16, 2010 at 1:29:47 PM CDT To: [email protected] Howdy folks, As everyone probably knows, Ed has moved to Pittsburgh to start his new job at CMU. We got a lot done before he left and we've made a lot more progress on the new space in the last week. We now have power and AC. A lot of the DPRG equipment was moved in over the weekend. We've still got a lot to do and there are a couple of ToDo lists: 1. The space ToDo list - this one tracks stuff we need to get done or decisions we need to make with regard to the space itself: http://www.dallasmakerspace.com/wiki/Space_Checklist 2. The organizational ToDo list - this one tracks the steps we need to go through to become a fully autonomous organization: http://www.dallasmakerspace.com/wiki/Maker_Space_ToDo_list The first order of business is selecting someone who is both a Makerspace member and DPRG member to succeed Ed as the chair of the DPRG's makerspace steering committee. Mark Havens has offered to take over this role. I'm happy to step in myself if needed, and we have a few other folks who could do the job. The main requirements are that this person works with the makespace members to get through these ToDo lists, keeps the weekly makerspace meetings going, and attends the monthly DPRG board meeting to report on progress. The DPRG board needs to appoint someone at the next board meeting on Aug 24. The plan is to appoint whoever the makerspace members prefer in the position. We can discuss here and come to a general consensus or hold a simple majority vote or whatever sounds good. Anyone have any thoughts or opinions on the subject? -Steve _______________________________________________ dms mailing list [email protected] http://list.dprg.org/mailman/listinfo/dms
