Old Business Updated:

The chair reviewed old business and the list below to determine if any changes have been made. Updates to list as noted below.

1). The printmaking computer has purchased Affinity software. Paul is working on locating the email with serial numbers so the software could be installed.

2). Screen printing and letterpress classes were held in early summer, however due to busy schedules and awaiting booster shots the team will not be holding classes again until November, 2021 time frame.

3). The chair needs to contact Jeff Whitcomb to accept the fire safe cabinet approved by the committee in the March meeting. I still need to do this.

4). Paul is refilling printer ink because someone used the printer and used up all the ink. Paul says it's not a big deal, we have plenty of ink to refill.

NOTES:

Discussion about the budget. Printmaking has $1200 to spend every six months. Explanation for how the budget works is quoted by Jason Harner below,

"Printmaking does still have a committee balance, but we’re trying to move away from that way of looking at it. The budget is intended to be a guideline for how much you should spend on committee operating expenses, within the context of the overall makerspace budget. So, for printmaking, that’s $1200 for the next 6 months, plus whatever you guys take in for class fees, donations etc."

"Printmaking had a budget of $200/month and also received $21 in cash, for a total of $1,021. You spent $667, so you were under budget by $355."

"If you want to make a major purchase, like a new press or printer or something, that’s going to go to the board for approval anyway, so it’s outside the budget process."

Beth Appleton explained some questions members had about the way the new budget works.

Mike Keller and Paul Wilson discussed using vinyl to create screens for printmaking. Paul suggested it only be used for short runs because the adhesive on the back of the vinyl will only hold up for so long.

Mike Keller asked about the Impressions Expo in Fort Forth this weekend September 10th. Paul mentioned him and Astrud had attended in the past but it is mainly an expo for commercial vendors, but might be fun if you wanted to attend.

Lisa is planning to run (2) sections of Letterpress Basics in November.

Continued discussion about a possible steam roller event hosted at DMS in the spring, more to come on this.
