(Discussion Item 1) Kiln shelf research: Silicone Carbide Pro: glaze drips pop right off, people have used them for years, don’t warp Con: No prolong exposure to water; hire firings are not good for them, electrical conductor must unplug kiln to load and unload, wet greenware can damage the shelf Name brand is $210 for ½ shelf and Axner is $121 for a ½ shelf. We may want to consider a full shelf for the bottom of the kiln. Agreement to buy a ½ shelf to try it out for a few firings. Only a select group of people will be able to load or unload that kiln due to safety issues.

Create a thread for the Needs attention shelf. Keep a running post of these items so folks will address their issues.

Gaining teachers: Need a mentor program Co-teach Teach the teachers class Update and clean up the instructors group so that everyone can see the important information Need to create a checklist for teachers to follow; how to set up a class, what to include, syllabi Margaret and Monika will work together to create a checklist for the teachers to follow

Monika will order carving/sgraffito tools for Beth’s class; bats for throwing classes; fan for work area.

Glaze is having supply chain issues – Monika ordered online every glaze that was available, mainly celadons’s for the space. Will be put out in the area on Wednesday

Committee vote to purchase $300 worth of class clay. – Unanimous agreement

Remind members that monthly DMS fee is not a “firing fee” it is a membership and we need folks to contribute and give back.

Communication is critical. For example: if a note for please making cookies is requested please do so, if you don’t know how ask so you can learn. Will also create a guideline for cookie making and place it on the wiki. 10.
