2011 Open House - Bio Launch

The 2011 Open House is done! We had a superb showing, it was a great way to launch the DMS bio program. For a video of the open house, see this video.

We showed:

• The Strawberry DNA extraction protocol
• A 23 and Me human DNA test kit, with analysis results and discussion of genomics
• A microscopy demo
• A signup station for the Flu Near You citizen science flu-spotting project
• A FitBit, with a discussion of the Quantified Self movement, where people gather data about their metabolism to track their body and investigate their health
